Comments: I've neglected this page and now, in 2009, have finally updated it with fourth quarter. So let's just leave it at that.

The third quarter was not a very good one for income for the site, which is not surprising, since my attention was often elsewhere, as I worked on revising my Idiot's Guide. The revisions are now done and the new edition will be out next year. The work that I did on the book did have some positive side-effects, as I revised the Resource Guide from it and have already posted the new version. I also created a list of writing guides.

In the second quarter my big accomplishment was to finish a piece on the Acquisition Process. Since then I've been working on a revision of my Idiot's Guide and have not been able to add new material as often as I would have liked. On the income side, AdSense has declined drastically, for a number of reasons, and I'm going to see what I can do to turn it around. Amazon slid too, as it always does in the spring. but Bookcloseouts made up for it.

My first big project in the first quarter was to reorganize and beef up the Award-winning Children's Books section; I'm happy with the way it is set up now, but want to add more material to it. I've redone the look of the home page, and also of the various subcategories pages linked to from the Articles index page. I've taken a new approach on the Purple Crayon Blog, putting up entries with just one subject, and plan to continue to do so.

Next steps: My list of topics to write about continues to grow. The work that I did on the subcategory pages makes them easier to use, but also prepares them for the possibility of direct advertising. I need to do some more work renovating the site before that can happen, though--it needs a more consistent design, and pages set up so that I can quickly change one part of a page across the entire site.

I will continue to answer questions from visitors as best I can, and am staying focused on keeping The Purple Crayon be an independent, self-sustaining resource site for the foreseeable future.

Please remember to come back to the Bookstore page on my site when you are doing online book shopping. In the long run, the more people who bookmark and then use that page, the larger the number of purchases that will be credited to the site. You can also promote it by linking to it from your site, or by linking to any other page or pages that interest you.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about any of this.
